Most hiking and nature trails in Ontario are now open for public use!

However, there are still some trails closed for public use and so, if you are not sure, please check with trail contacts listed in the data base to obtain the current status of trails.  For example, certain portions of the Bruce Trail are still closed. Further information for the Bruce Trail can be found at  https://brucetrail.org/trail_changes/361

And, in most instances public facilities, especially washrooms, will still be closed to the public.

There are common sense recommendations to still follow as we head out for fresh air and exercise. When hiking any of the wonderful trails we have in Ontario please:

  • Practice social distancing – stay 6 feet apart.
  • Hike in smaller groups – less than 10 is ideal.
  • Try to hike on local trails to avoid long distance travel.
  • Be aware that public facilities will probably be closed.
  • But most importantly, enjoy the experience.
