The Ross McLean Side Trail is named after a long time local Bruce Trail volunteer. You start your hike at a Bruce Trail parking area on Lundy Lane. Be careful to follow the parking signage as this is private property and a private lane.
Follow the main Bruce Trail white slashes for about 1 km as the trail ascends the escarpment and follows along the top. Tread carefully as there are several open crevices that you have to cross over. After about 1 km you come to the start of the Side Trail. Turn left and follow the blue slashes. At the base of the slope you will meet a small stream with a small waterfall. The water is emerging from the cliff wall and if you listen carefully you can hear the water falling in a subterranean cave behind the cliff.
The trail follows the stream downhill to Bass Lake. The trail turns right and follows along the shores of Bass Lake with good views. When the trail reaches the marsh area at the end of the lake it turns right and follows the hedgerow of a field back to a junction with the main Bruce Trail. Turn left and follow the white slashes back to your parking spot.
