Mer Bleue Trails – National Capital Greenbelt

Mer Bleue is a 3,700-hectare peat bog, protected as a Wetland of International
Importance under the Ramsar Convention. The highlight of Mer Bleue is a
kilometre-long boardwalk built on the bog’s surface.

Interpretive signs tell the story of this unique subarctic landscape. The area features a picnic shelter, a winter bird-feeding station, and a variety of ski and hiking trails. At nearby Carlsbad Springs, a provincial heritage site, you will find a picnic area, a short walking
trail and the remains of a health spa.

At Mer Bleue there are 22.8 kilometres of hiking trails. A great hike is the six-kilometre forest trail that goes up to a sandy escarpment that overlooks the bog. The Mer Bleue Bog Trail is a boardwalk that allows you to explore the heart of the bog and discover its many interesting facets.
