Temagami is immersed in history. Some of the world's oldest rock has surfaced here, and has been scraped and smoothed by centuries of glaciation. Grey Owl, the mysterious natural historian who captured the world's imagination back in the 1930s, has become a part of the Temagami landscape. Over the centuries, people have been drawn to the area as if by a magnet. Temagami is truly a place not only for the adventurer, the naturalist, the angler, the explorer, the hunter and the admirer, but truly experiencing Temagami means admiring its mystical charms, and many wonders of nature.
Temagami has been a renowned centre for outdoor & wilderness recreation for over 100 years. Feeling adventures go exploring in the White Bear Forest Old Growth Trails and Temagami Island Owl Growth Trails . Many of the trails offer hikers an opportunity to discover trees that have never been logged or mined and are still self-standing. The oldest tree within the grove is approximately 350 years old. The Fire Tower has been a main attraction for several years. Come and enjoy the view as you climb the 100 foot tower on Caribou Mountain.
The Temagami Information Centre is operated by the Chamber of Commerce conveniently located at the Historic Temagami Train Station. The office is open year round with limited staff during the off seasons. Come and visit the centre and or simply browse the tuck shop. Come and experience Temagami. There is a little piece of Temagami for everyone!
