Georgetown is a Town within the amalgamated community of the Town of Halton Hills.

The Town of Halton Hills is a unique combination of two urban areas, historical hamlets and stunning rural landscapes all within easy commuting distance of Canada’s largest, most culturally diverse city, Toronto. The Town is comprised of the historic towns of Georgetown and Acton as well as a number of smaller traditional Hamlets — Ballinafad, Norval, Glen Williams, Stewarttown, Limehouse, Glen Lawson and Speyside, Ashgrove, Crewsons Corners, Bannockburn, Hendersons Corner, Whaleys Corners, Mansewood, Hornby, Silver Creek and Terra Cotta.

Historical information about many of these communities has been documented by the Esquesing Historical Society, and is available at branches of the Halton Hills Library and Halton Hills Chamber of Commerce.
