Bothwell is located in the amalgamated community of Chatham-Kent.
Bothwell is a small town of approximately 968 residents, located on the north-eastern limits of Chatham-Kent. The town was founded during a nineteenth-century oil boom, with residents justifiably proud of their community's long and colourful history.
Today this town has a thriving agricultural economy. Parks Blueberries, a “pick-your-own” blueberry farm and country store located just outside of Bothwell, is a popular agri-tourism destination.
This community is home to a number of businesses which provide employment for local residents.
In addition to multiple sites of historical significance in and around Bothwell; many old oil wells are still standing, and the Bothwell-Zone Oil Museum provides a detailed account of the oil boom of 1860. Additionally, the Fairfield Museum & National Historic Site houses some important artifacts from an early missionary settlement. Residents prepared and celebrated the town's 150th Anniversary in 2017 with a number of events, including a homecoming celebration.
Recreational facilities, which include an arena, athletic fields, and a skate-board park, help to promote healthy living among its residents.
