The Tom Thomson Trail is a non-motorized, multi-use (biking, hiking and horseback riding), 3-season (spring through fall) trail between Owen Sound and Meaford. The initial trail development was completed in 2008, meaning on-road and off-road sections of trail have been marked with signs and kilometer markers between the new trailhead kiosk in Fred Raper Park in Meaford and the kiosk located north of the Bayshore Community Centre in Owen Sound.  Wherever possible we use off-road routes, however much of the trail is currently located on quiet back country roads, since we did not have an abandoned rail bed to follow. This has been an opportunity to build a trail from scratch, one that shows the best vistas, tackles fewer obstacles and passes through the best of our beautiful countryside. The trail has varied surfaces and is suitable for hybrid or mountain bikes.

Our objective is to establish off-road routes to replace some current on-road sections of trail as they become available to us. Some of the off-road sections of trail are quite rough and would require a mountain bike, however we continue to upgrade the trail bed as funds become available
