RARE CHARITABLE RESEARCH RESERVE TRAILS
The 8 km of trails at the rare Charitable Research Reserve are free and open to the public from dawn to dusk and are designed to give you better access to the natural beauty of the property, all while encouraging education and spreading ecological awareness. Our trails allow the community to see the rare, or uncommon, elements which exist here: limestone cliffs, alvars, floodplains, diverse flora and fauna, historical buildings and the confluence of first nation transportation routes.
While enjoying your time at rare please remain on the trails, refrain from camping, foraging, and littering, and please note that motorized vehicles are not permitted on rare trails.
We love our four-legged family members as much as you love yours, however, because of the fragile eco-system we work so hard to preserve, the possibility of interactions with wildlife that call rare home, and the possibility of frightening children participating in educational programs on our property rare prohibits dogs on certain trails and requires they remain on leash for others. For these reasons, we do not allow dogs on the Osprey Tower Trail, River Trail, Woodland Trail, Alvar Trail, and Butterfly Interpretive Loop. However, dogs are more than welcome if they remain on a leash on our ECO Centre Trail, Grand Allee, Maple Lane, and Deer Run trails. We thank you in advance for helping us further our efforts in conservation, research, and education, and allowing the space to be enjoyed by all users by respecting our guidelines.
