North Glengarry Trails. The Friends of Glengarry Trails Association (FGTA) is proud of the beautiful and extensive trail system it maintains in the Township of North Glengarry. These all-season trails were originally developed with the assistance of Provincial and Municipal funding.
Private landowners have generously allowed the trails to be constructed on their properties. Countless hours of volunteer work ensure that the trails are safe and readily passable year round.
In winter many of the trails are groomed for cross country skiing and snowshoeing.
The Glengarry Trails system is located in the Garry River watershed just west of Alexandria, Ontario, and features both woodland and wetland areas. The Friends of Glengarry Trails Association have built boardwalks, small bridges and interpretive signs.

I’ve never been to a board walk sk poorly maintained, and I’ve been everywhere! I’m not fussy and don’t mind some bush but we had to plow down bushes on the boardwall with our stroller. My husband and I were shocked and had to keep our arms out to prevent being hit in the face. ran into multiple spider webs on the board walk as well. Looked nothing like the photos. Sorry, but whoever maintains this trail should be ashamed.
Tya, Sorry you had this experience but really appreciate your honest comments. I have forwarded your comments to the Friends of Glengarry Trails Association – glengarrytrails.com
Thank you for visiting the Glengarry trails and for your comments.
The trails are being maintained purely by volunteers who despite their busy live make themselves available when possible. We are therefore always looking for volunteers who are willing to help us with year round maintenance work. The board walk in question is usually trimmed at the end of August/beginning of September to get it ready for the fall walking season.
Our board meeting is usually every first Wednesday of the month.
Thank you for considering being part of the team!
