Hearst Lake and Falls is an easy day hike. To get started drive three kilometers south of Latchford and turn left, east onto the Roosevelt Road. You will cross the gas pipeline and the railway tracks. On your right (south) there is a grassy clearing suitable for parking. Walk 100 meters further along the road and look for the trail on your right (south). In winter look for parking near Highway 11. The trail is 800 meters in from the highway. Follow the trail 3.3 kilometers to Hearst Lake. This section of the O.T.H Trail has no big hills. Part of the trail was a moose trail and can be wet at times. Just below the lake side camp is a three tiered falls which can be gushing with water in spring but often totally dry by the end of August. The appeal of this trail is the open pine forest for the kilometers north of the beautiful little lake.
