The 47 kilometre (29 mile) Elora Cataract Trailway links the Grand and Credit watersheds and follows the old Canadian Pacific railroad bed.

It runs through rolling countryside east of Elora, through the historic community of Fergus and past Belwood Lake to the Forks of Credit Provincial Park at Cataract.

(Snowmobiling allowed between Fergus & Erin, horseback riding allowed between Fergus & Cataract)

The GRCA and the Credit Valley Conservation Authority own the trail. They manage it in conjunction with the Elora Cataract Trailway Association which has a website with more information.

Access

  • Elora: Gerrie Road near County Road 18
  • Fergus: The trail is on-street through Fergus. Parking on Gartshore Street near Forfar Street East and on Beatty Line near Hill Street West.
  • Belwood Lake Park: Parking is available at Belwood Lake Park with paid admission. There is no park admission fee for hikers passing through the park along the trail. Trail users who want to remain in the park must pay the admission fee.
  • Orton: Erin Garafraxa Townline
  • Hillsburgh; Station Street
  • Erin: Ross Street
  • Cataract: Intersection of Cataract and Mississauga roads
