The Elora Cataract Trail currently connects Wellington County from Elora east towards Halton Region. A new Trans Canada Trail route in Centre Wellington will close the gap between Elora and the Kissing Bridge Trailway in Waterloo Region to the west.

The trail will consist of road shoulders, off road trails and signed roadways. The route winds through rural farmlands and gently rolling terrain.

The northern end of the trail is opposite the entrance to the Elora Gorge Park and Campground. The Cottontail Road unopened road allowance owned by the Township of Centre Wellington will be enhanced at the trail entrance to offer room for some parking, directional signage, map kiosk and trail gate.

Heading south from Sideroad 4 along Second Line East and off road trail is proposed to follow the current winter snowmobile trail used by the Fergus-Elora-Belwood snowmobile club. The trail will be situated on lands at the Elora Research Station. At Sideroad 10 the trail resumes as a signed, on road trail heading west on paved and gravel country roads to connect to the Kissing Bridge Trailway north of Ariss.
