When completed, this 15-kilometre abandoned rail corridor linking Hamilton with Caledonia will become part of the Niagara branch of the Trans Canada Trail. It will also be connected to the Caledonia-to-Dunnville rail trail. Approximately 12 kilometres have been completed and work is proceeding as funding permits. An easement agreement has been signed with Georgia Pacific that will allow the Chippewa Trail to proceed on the outskirts of their land.

is the Chippewa rail trail now open? can you let me know please
It appears that Conservation Hamilton has opened the Rail Trails in their watershed, including Chippewa Rail Trail, as of May 9th.
I discovered this trail after recently moving to Ancaster and rode it for the 3rd time today door to door. Accessed it by Stone Church Rd for a round trip of 59km. Such a delight with wild flowers out and fields of crops. I really like the bridges over 20 Mile Creek and the Welland River (See picture). I took Haldimand Road 66 into Caledonia, as that end section of the trail isn’t complete yet. I look forward to the day it is.
I recently traveled this trail & it appears to be incomplete still. Does anyone know when the trail will open from Haldimand Rd. 66 to Caledonia?
