Nature Trails near Thessalon, Ontario

Welcome to Thessalon!
A small town with big dreams, Thessalon is found just off of Hwy 17 between Sudbury and Sault Ste. Marie, and offers the North Shore’s best view of Lake Huron.
A community founded in 1892, Thessalon is proud of its heritage in the lumber and timber industry which is still active today but Thessalon is also full of civic minded residents whose spirit of community and volunteerism is at the heart of the Town.
Thessalon has something for the resident and local alike in amenities such as shopping, groceries, a liquor store, hardware store, auto repair, restaurants, accommodations, municipal marina and camp ground. Situated at the point where Hwy 17 and Hwy 129 intersect, the area is an excellent base camp for some of the best canoeing, fishing and hunting in Canada. For arts-lovers Thessalon offers many creative small businesses and local artists in the area who are ready to share their talents and ideas with you.
Enjoy the warm summer sun from one of our sand beaches, or view the most spectacular sunsets in Canada from our lakefront parks or the marina. The Thessalon River, which runs from the lake through the centre of town, is a liquid highway for boats, canoes, kayaks and fishing and a frozen one in the winter for snowmobilers and snowshoes.
Sports and recreation facilities like the arena, curling club and cross country ski trails and the ball fields, soccer fields and walking and hiking trails boast an active lifestyle for young and old alike. Indeed, we are proud of our town, a true gateway to the North and a great place to live and visit!
