Exeter is a town in the amalgamated community of South Huron.
South Huron is a rural picturesque farming community that includes the urban settlements of Exeter, Stephen and Usborne. We are located at the most southern tip of Huron County and stretch east to Perth County and west to Lambton County in South Western Ontario, being less than one hour away from each of London, Grand Bend, and Stratford, and only 2 hours west of Toronto.
South Huron has a lot to offer and you will soon find it is a great place to visit as well as a great place to live, to work and to play. South Huron is located in Southwestern Ontario within a 2-hour driving radius, you can reach most of the major centres in Southwestern Ontario; the Greater Toronto Area, Guelph, Kitchener-Waterloo, Cambridge, London, Sarnia and Windsor. Extend the driving time to half a day and reach Detroit and Buffalo. The day-drive population includes most of Ontario and Quebec as well as New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana, or approximately 75 million people.
Being centrally located, South Huron has an excellent road network, within close proximity of Highways 401 and 402. County roads built for heavy loads serve as connecting links to points both within and outside the County. South Huron is well positioned for major railway access, provided through the Goderich-Exeter Railway which is Canada's first short line railway. The railway has direct access to the provincial east-west corridor and local interchanges are located in London, Toronto, Kitchener and Guelph.
