Alliston is a part of the community of New Tecumseth.

The Town of New Tecumseth was created in January 1991 and encompasses the former municipalities of the Town of Alliston, Villages of Beeton and Tottenham, and Tecumseth Township.

Located between Barrie and Newmarket, just 15 minutes west of Highway 400, New Tecumseth is home to Honda Canada's manufacturing plant that employs more than 4,300 workers.
